International Network of Scientific Stations

The value of supporting research, the value of supporting innovation

Biomimetic Scientific Stations

The Biomimetic Sciences Institute launches the Network of Scientific Stations project, creating facilities for innovation and research in strategic natural spaces around the world, together with the best experts and professionals in the scientific field.

The objective is to develop innovation in alliances with companies, academics, scientists, researchers, and traditional knowledge.

All this from a scientific, public and private perspective, in order to know, investigate, protect, regenerate and revalue ecosystems.

what we do

We innovate and research to find and implement sustainable solutions
  • Climate change research
  • Preservation of natural spaces
  • Study of the sustainable water cycle
  • Search for active ingredients
  • Subsurface investigation
  • Accelerator of internal and external projects
The scientific stations are multidisciplinary areas, applicable in chemistry, biology and processes to be able to reach different sectors such as the fight against climate change, medicine, agriculture, food science and forest sciences, energy, economy…

Science Stations - Team

  • Scientific Director: Pablo Villoslada
  • General Manager: Carmen Sanfrancisco
  • Administration: Julietta Valsecchi
  • Dept. Expansion: Hernando Bernal Zamudio
  • Innovation Advisor: Ignacio Valero
  • Delegate in Galapagos Islands: Miguel Mosquera

Team: Biomimetic Sciences Institute together with collaborators of the International Network of Biomimicry (more than 1000 high-level researchers from 20 different countries)

Scientific committee: under development

Virtual Science Stations

Cutting edge technology

The scientific stations will be highly technical, and will have digital twins, containers for all the data collected, which will be available for processing using artificial intelligence and other state-of-the-art methods.

For the time being, Biomimetic Scientific Stations have been contemplated in the following countries, in the first three with already signed agreements:

  • Barcelona, Spain
  • Ecuador, Galapagos Islands
  • Leticia, Amazonas, Colombia
  • Salvador, Bahia, Brazil
  • Blanket, Pando, Bolivia
  • San Jose, Costa Rica
  • Chile, Atacama
  • Equatorial Guinea
  • Indonesia

Scientific Stations

Engine of sustainable development for the territory and study model worldwide.

All this as a model of the use and management of natural resources, transferable to multiple fields.

Activating the work and local professionals and tractor of high-level economic resources.

Press release

Presentation proposal International Network of Scientific Stations

The Biomimetic Sciences Institute launches the first scientific station in the Galapagos Islands with the mayor's office of San Cristóbal in Ecuador.

  • The start-up of the first scientific station of the network that the foundation has programmed is constituted.
  • The network aims to conduct research in various disciplines such as marine biology, biotechnology, and climate change, as in the case of the Galapagos Islands.

Collaboration agreement for the launch of the first international scientific station of the network, scheduled. This network will have world-class strategic spaces dedicated to the study of climate change, located in the Galapagos Islands, the Colombian Amazon, Brazil, Barcelona, Costa Rica and Bolivia, among others.

The agreement materialized on October 21 of this year, with the collaboration of Miguel A. Mosquera Briones, representative in the Galapagos Islands of the Biomimetic Sciences Institute, chaired by Pere Monràs and directed by Carmen Sanfrancisco, who is also organizing the world symposium on biomimicry, in which the scientific stations project will be presented during the year 2023.
