General conditions of service

In compliance with article 10 of Law 34/2002, of July 11, on Services of the Information Society and Electronic Commerce, the following identifying data of the service provider are exposed through the website


1. Identification and activity of the company

The holder and responsible for the domain is the Biomimetics Sciences Institute Foundation (hereinafter BSI), domiciled at carrer de Bolívia 134-136, local 1, 08018 Barcelona, registered in the Foundations Register of the Generalitat de Catalunya as a scientific foundation with the number 3029 and provided with NIF: B-63619316.


2. Description of the website

In the domain, the main service provided by BSI is to offer information and dissemination of activities.


3. User registration

In order to access certain services, the condition of REGISTERED USER is necessary. This condition is obtained when registering a person in the registry. In this registry, the USER will be responsible for providing truthful and lawful information. It is the responsibility of the USER to keep the password used to avoid the usurpation of their identity.


4. Protection of minors

Within the framework of actions aimed at the protection of minors on the Internet, registration is prohibited for minors under 14 years of age or legally incapacitated people. To this end, a mechanism for introducing and verifying dates has been enabled that in some way reasonably guarantees this aspect.


5. General conditions of use of the BSI sites

The BSI sites offer access to various contents (services, information, data, etc.). The USER assumes responsibility for the use of the BSI sites by him/her. That is why it is the responsibility, commitment, and obligation of the user to make appropriate use of the contents and services that BSI offers through its sites. Especially the USER undertakes not to use in actions that may:

  • Engage in illicit or illegal activities according to the Spanish legal system.
  • Vulnerate the Spanish and international legislation in the matter of intellectual and industrial property.
  • Disseminate content or propaganda being racist, xenophobic, pornographic, illegal, an apology of terrorism or against human rights.
  • Cause damage to the computer systems of BSI, its suppliers or other people.
  • Introduce or disseminate in the network malicious software, computer viruses or any other physical or logical systems that are capable of causing the damage mentioned in the previous point.
  • Try to access or, where appropriate, use the accounts of other users and modify or manipulate their data and messages.
  • BSI reserves the right to eliminate from its media the contributions that violate respect for the dignity of the person, that are discriminatory, that attempt against youth or childhood, public safety or that, according to him, are inadequate.


6. Rights and obligations of the user

The user undertakes, by becoming sole and exclusively responsible, to use the services offered by BSI in accordance with the law, these general conditions, and their updates and in accordance with the generally accepted standards of good faith, morals and public order.


7. Provision of services by BSI

7.1. The provision of services is free, indefinite, and freely revocable without prejudice to the provisions of the other general conditions.

7.2. In no case, BSI guarantees the availability, continuity or minimum level of quality of its services.

The user will not have any right to claim compensation of any kind (direct or indirect) for temporary interruptions or definitive suspension of services.

Notwithstanding what has mentioned above, BSI undertakes to inform the user, whenever it is foreseeable with the necessary notice, any interruption of the service whose cause is the update or improvement of the services or their maintenance.


8. Industrial and intellectual property

All the information or the form of the compilation of the information contained in the domain such as, for example, the collection of information, graphic design, images, source code, trademarks, trade names, denominations, among other distinctive signs are subject to intellectual and industrial property rights of BSI or third parties.

Under no circumstances, access to the services of BSI implies the renunciation, transmission, assignment or total or partial license of these third parties, nor does it confer any right of use, translation, adaptation, alteration, exploitation, reproduction, distribution or public communication of the contents without the previous and express authorization of BSI or of the third holder of the affected rights. In no case is authorized (and will be prosecuted) the total or partial reproduction of the data and contents to which one has access to or will use it in contravention of current legislation on industrial or intellectual property. The rights of the user to view and obtain a cached copy (cache memory) of his/her computer, as a transient and accessory reproduction, are protected, but under no circumstances is it authorized to communicate to third parties.


9. Links

9.1 Links to third-party sites of the domain

Any user wishing to include in their web space any type of link that connects or transfers to the domain to the pages that compose it must notify BSI beforehand, provided that said user or third party refrains from making any manifestation, inclusion of content or provision of services on its site, whether of a lawful or unlawful nature, which could cause damage to the image of BSI.

Notwithstanding what is mentioned above, BSI reserves the unilateral right to prohibit, limit, suppress or demand the elimination of the links established to the domain, when it deems convenient, by simple communication to the owner of the website that connects with or the pages that compose it, without under any circumstances being obliged to pay any type of compensation for this reason.

9.2 Links to third party pages:

This website includes links that allow the User to access other Internet pages outside the BSI posts. In case the USER uses these links, BSI informs him that he does not exercise any kind of control over said sites and their contents.

In no case BSI will assume any responsibility for the contents of any link belonging to a third party website, nor will it guarantee the technical availability, quality, reliability, accuracy, amplitude, veracity, validity, and legality of any material or information contained in any of the mentioned hyperlinks or other Internet sites.

If any user is aware that the links refer to pages whose contents or services are illegal, harmful, degrading, violent or immoral, we would appreciate it if you contact BSI indicating it, so we can proceed to remove this link.

All activity carried out on sites that are not owned by BSI – Social networks, facebook, youtube, twitter, myspace, others – is regulated by its own rules and conditions, so we recommend that, before it is used, users inform themselves in this respect in the sections of legal notice, or similar, in their right places.


10. Modifications

The information contained in is current as of the date of its last update and must be considered as introductory information for the user, about the services and other information that its pages incorporate. The user can confirm the date of update of any information, if requested, by sending an e-mail by clicking on the “Contact” link included in the main page.

BSI may modify the terms of these General Conditions at any time, publishing the updated version on, without the need for any other notification to users.

Any notification can be sent to BSI by sending an e-mail by clicking on the “Contact” link included on the main page. Any notification to the user may be sent to the e-mail address indicated at the time of registration.


12. Legislation and applicable jurisdiction

BSI and the user, expressly waiving any other jurisdiction or applicable legislation that may apply, are subject to Spanish common law legislation and the jurisdiction of the Courts and Tribunals of the city of Barcelona (Spain), except that the applicable legislation determines imperatively another jurisdiction or different legislation.


13. User Consent

The user declares to have read these general conditions, accepting and consenting, fully and expressly, everything that is available in each one of them each time he accesses or uses his services.
